Salzburg to Munich

The glory of yesterday has dulled a bit with cloudy skies however the air is warm. No complaints after the chilly weather a couple of weeks ago. A last walk through the old town, past the pansies and the children eating ice cream for a morning snack, then the trek to the station for the afternoon train to Munich. Each place we have visited has had it's unique appeal however, both Vienna and Salzburg are my favourites so far on the trip. Not really sure why. Maybe some spell of the Hapsburgs has overtaken me even though I know like all imperialists, their splendour was derived from the hard work and toil of their subjects.
We found our Smart Stay Hostel after arriving at the very busy train station in Munich, Germany. We are in a 6 bed room .That means 3 bunk beds. A far cry from our own private guided tours and the Hilton hotels but more what we are used too (okay maybe we were used to in our youth!) but Munich has a trade fair and nothing else was available. After making our beds and renting our towels, we went out for a walk and discovered the Lindwurmstüberl restaurant, a fine local place. Lots of local folk dressed in red shirts in anticipation of the soccer game this evening. Would recommend this spot to anyone. 🍴🍺
From the Internet :
"If you missed out on the Oktoberfest fortnight or want to tear into a roasted half chicken between slugging down masses of Augustiner beer all over again, this is the place to be! Not far from the Wies'n itself (the locals' word for the Oktoberfest, as the event was originally a horse race held on a nearby meadow), this basic looking restaurant serves a range of beers from the local brewery and meaty meals with old-style side dishes of potato salad and pretzels. Lindwurmstüberl gives you a true taste of local tradition in trotting distance of the 'fest itself. -"
⚽Soccer game on TV now with Munich ahead 1. My pal is a fan. I find the men in shorts amusing.
