Vienna Day 3

Actually sat at an outdoor cafe today. Coats on of course. Strolled around the bare ( of greenery) but beautiful Belvedere Palace baroque gardens after looking at Klimt masterpieces among others. Belvedere cake and whipped cream or schlagobers in the cafe at the palace gave us strength to carry on exploring the back streets of Vienna for the rest of the day. We were reflecting over our meal of frankfurters and gluwein in our now favourite Prueckel coffee house on some of what we have learned on our travels thus far.
⭐ Vienna was the centre of power and culture for centuries under the reign of the Hapsburg dynasty and the city is a reflection of the glory of the Austro Hungarian Empire. An amazing accomplishment over centuries that we are really only grasping now that we are here to see the remnants of what was built during this time. What we saw in Budapest is so closely linked to Vienna. Ah ha! A reason to travel and see the world and understand world history in all it's complexities.
