Prague day 3

Prague is a beautiful city of meandering alleys and passage ways in the old part of the city. The day was spent walking to the Charles Bridge which was actually held together with raw eggs when it was built.
From a guidebook: "Charles Bridge is a stone Gothic bridge that connects the Old Town and Lesser Town. Its construction was commissioned by Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV and began in 1357. It is said that egg yolks were mixed into the mortar to strengthen the construction of the bridge."
A string quartet was fabulous in the Mirror Chapel at the Clementinum. We sat so close I could read the music of the viola player. Maybe I have not totally forgotten how to read music, a skill I learned in my youth playing the flute with great determination but minimal talent for many
years. We ended the evening listening to Nat King Cole songs played by a lounge singer from Benin (in what was French West Africa-known as Dahomey) in the bar at our Hilton hotel. Music is evocative of so many times and places and people.
