Salzburg: A Glorious Day

A wonderful sunny warm day for my pal's special birthday celebration. The daffodils are blooming, the birds are singing and the grass is greening. Masses of pansies gazing luxuriously at the sun, accompanying their pleasure with a soft fragrance surrounding us. Spring has definitely sprung in Salzburg.
A trip up the funicular railway to gasp at the mountains and overlook Salzburg from the Hohensalzburg Fortress, a medieval castle complex which as the guide aptly says, "is an imposing testimony to 900 years of architectural history.....fascinating and unforgettable views of the princely and baroque city and the province of Salzburg. "
🍰Birthday cake in a cafe then off to an exquisite harpsichord concert , Mozart, of course. We were able to buy some fabulous Spanish shoes as well.
🍲 Dinner at the Stiftskeller St. Peter.
From Wikipedia:
Stiftskeller St. Peter "is a restaurant within the monastery walls of St. Peter's Archabbey, Salzburg, Austria. It is claimed to be the oldest inn in Central Europe because of a document mentioning it in 803 AD. It is believed to be one of the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Europe. " the atmosphere and the food was outstanding. Well worth a visit.
We wandered home through almost empty streets which is a real change from the crowds of tourists ( high school trips on particular) that we have experienced in other places.
👍Salzburg is an enchanting, elegant place,
